Introduction to Supervision

Supervision is a form of reflective practice where an employee has an opportunity to reflect upon their work alongside a supervisor. This need not be a manager, often it is better that it is not. Supervision has a wellbeing element to it and allows employees to recognise the emotional and psychological impact of their work and helps to promotes self-care. Giving employees the time to reflect in this way gives them a sense of value and is shown to enhance morale within the workplace, reduces absenteeism and improves retention of staff.
